ATLANTA — Mopar specialist SpeedFactory will unveil an "entry level" Dodge supercar, the SF500 Challenger, at the 2010 SEMA Show in Las Vegas this week. SpeedFactory is also rolling out its SF700R Challenger, powered with a 426 Hemi.
Based on the 2010 Challenger R/T, the SF500 is fitted with a Vortech centrifugal supercharger boosting the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine to 544 horsepower and 530 pound-feet of torque.
SpeedFactory added a heavy-duty five-speed transmission, Hotchkis performance springs and sway bars, a stainless steel cat-back exhaust and other modifications. Wheels and tires are BBS CH-R wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires.
Cosmetically, the SF500 gets a serialized number plate, custom floor mats, exterior graphics and special badging. The whole package costs $46,900.
The SF700R is a supercharged, all-aluminum Mopar 426 Hemi-powered version of the Challenger. It has SpeedFactory's new Power-Tec twin-screw supercharger, helping the Hemi to 700-plus hp. The engine is mated to a five-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. Heavy-duty 1,000-hp half-shafts, performance springs, a Corsa Extreme stainless steel cat-back exhaust and Brembo brakes are all fitted to the SF7000R. Wheels are 20-inch BBS Black Edition CH-R with Michelin PS2 tires.
The interior has leather and Alcantara trim, custom floor mats, Mopar door sills and a Hurst white ball shifter for manual-transmission models. The exterior has SpeedFactory badging and graphics. Pricing was not announced.

All I have to say is that I wish Plymouth was still around. I'd love to see a new Road Runner w/ a 7.0L 426 Hemi in it. Call it the Coyote Killer. But nice vehicles for the price, and if I had the money I'd totally go for the SF700R.

Thanks to everyone for the comments; we realize that taste in cars is a very personal thing and not every car is for everyone.
To address a point - this car (SF500) is the entry level SpeedFactory vehicle, we have several models covering the power spread from 540 HP up to 700 HP + and ranging in price. Some are supercharged, others are naturally aspirated and some are 426-based. You can see the full spread on our website.
To answer a question-
lions208487: Actual price for the complete car starts at $46,900 - it is a Challenger R/T that is built up. The SF500 delivers 540 HP for $46,900 with improved handling - compare to the stock SRT8 starting price of $42,500 for 425HP.

The SpeedFactory mods, like Steve Saleen's SMS 570 & 570s and Richard Petty's version are very pricey but priceless to those who can afford them. In such an iconic car the whole is always more than the sum of it's parts, or in this case it's numbers. Any dealer will tell you The Challenger elicits an irrational response from otherwise very rational people. Challenger production may end in 2014 and if the past is any indication the biggest prizes will go to the biggest Hemis.

I think underwhelming is the word to use. Yes. Underwhelming. The visuals are discrete, and I would understand that if you had a real sleeper on your hands, but this isn't a sleeper, it's a snore. I'd hate to rag on Mopar because I am a fan, but the Challenger should never be thought of as a 'supercar'.
Give me a stripped down version with a Supercharged 6.1 Hemi, 6+ manual, butterfly hood (minus the R/T cowl), and some fatties in the rear and I'll start getting interested. This is just another Supercharger kit with a few decals.

While the performance is underwhelming, the visual modifications are tastefully done. I wish I could say the same about the SEMA Camaros, but for whatever reason, Camaros turn into cheese.

$47K for a car that will still won't break into the 11's is a fantastic deal?? This car is a pig. No amount of sway bars and springs is going to turn this thing into a handler. And it weighs too much to do it's intended purpose well- go fast in a straight line.

I love it. If the actual price of the car with this package was 46,900 then it would be a fantastic deal, but to the added sticker I'm not so sure. Even if I won the lotto, I couldn't see myself paying that much extra.... It is sick though...
