AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — Chrysler on Friday released pricing and details on its 2012 SRT lineup, including the 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392, which will start at $44,820, including an $825 destination charge. The gas-guzzler tax for the Challenger SRT8 392 has not yet been determined.
The new SRT models will go on sale in the fall.

Chrysler also announced on Friday that it is elevating its Street and Racing Technology team to a separate company within the automaker, presumably giving the SRT brand more clout.
The 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 started at $45,080, including an $825 destination charge and a $1,700 gas-guzzler tax.
The 2012 Challenger SRT8 392 gets the carryover 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine that churns out 470 horsepower. It gets a new two-mode adaptive suspension system, a heated steering wheel and a new optional 18-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.

The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 will start at $55,295, including shipping. Chrysler says it is the best performing Jeep ever. It gets a 470-hp 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine, a heated steering wheel and an optional 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
Inside Line says: Chrysler makes a renewed commitment to SRT, with a beefed-up lineup and the encouraging word that the team has been elevated to a separate company.

The big question we all should be asking is, do they all still come with the slushbox 5-speed auto or the new 8-speed auto?

Surprised that the SRT8 Charger is listing for more than a SRT8 Challenger..?
(Guess those two extra doors cost alot!)
I was looking forward to the Charger redesign based on pictures, but after seeing a
few on the street I now think that that car just looks funky..and not in a good way.
I'm actually preferring the previous generation charger now which
I used to not really care for! The older one looks lower and wider
from the back than the new one which looks too narrow and high from
the back in comparision.

I think the 300 is just gorgeous. That and the Challenger will age very well because of their simplicity. But I feel like the Charger and the Cherokee have too much "stuff" going on for them. Oftentimes, it's the simply designed cars that look great longer (IMO).

Feeling a bit of deja vu here. Distinctly remember the Big 3 putting out high displacement "sports" cars in the 70's right before the price of gas hit the roof. Fast forward some thirty years, value of the dollar is dropping and price of gas is rising....and what do you know? 6.4 liter V8's getting 16mpg combined on Premium fuel, nonetheless.

I'm over the dark wheels trend. I'd prefer bright silver wheels. That said, the 300 SRT8 still looks really good. Do all these bad boys still have that awesome 5-speed automatic? I haven't driven one, but I would bet that these cars would benefit from an upgrade. Also, the interiors look greatly improved, but I'd still like to see one in person to get a better idea. If I had to pick one of these as a daily driver, I'd go with the 300.

The Charger is the best by far. I'm missing what people see in the Challenger.
