CHICAGO — A limited production run of the 2011 Dodge Challenger R/T Classic and Challenger SRT8 392 will get the new "Green With Envy" exterior color, which honors "some of the coolest paint colors from our past," said Chrysler on Wednesday at the 2011 Chicago Auto Show.
Dodge said production of the retro-inspired models starts this month. The Challenger SRT8 Green With Envy, priced at $46,175, including an $825 shipping charge and $1,300 gas-guzzler tax, can be ordered now. The Challenger R/T Classic, with a price tag of $36,785, including shipping and $1,000 gas-guzzler tax, can be ordered in March.
The eye-popping color — roughly the same shade as Kermit the Frog or the Grinch Who Stole Christmas — harks back to the "Sublime" and "Green Go" Dodge Challengers from the 1970s and the "Snakeskin Green" Dodge Vipers from 2008-'10.
The Challenger R/T Classic gets two A-line body-side stripes — either in standard matte black or optional white. Other details include new five-spoke cast-aluminum wheels and a cabin with Dark Slate Nappa leather seats and a center console with Green With Envy accent stitching. The muscle car is equipped with a 372-horsepower 5.7-liter Hemi V8 linked to a standard six-speed manual transmission.
The Challenger SRT8 392 Green With Envy gets dual full-body black stripes and 20-inch five-spoke SRT-exclusive wheels. It also gets the Dark Slate Nappa leather seats with Green With Envy accents. It is equipped with a 470-hp 6.4-liter Hemi V8 linked to a standard six-speed manual transmission.
If green is not your shade, the Challenger SRT8 can also be ordered in Billett Metallic Clear Coat, Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat, Redline 3 Pearl Coat and Toxic Orange Pearl Coat.

The green is awesome, along with the stripes. I'd like to see the billet clear coat also.

Saw a couple of Vipers with this color. I think you could pull it off with the Challenger.

I love the challenger. But wow swing and a miss! I've been waiting for the sublime color like on the chargers in 2007. And I'm sorry but the shelby stripes don't work either. Just not envious of this green.

This Car rocks, if they wanted to make it serious competition the would and they could with the Hemi....I do seem to recall a time when the Others were crying about that motor and got it banned from NASCAR for a time.

what the hell? I can't believe this fat beast has a gas guzzler tax on the RT model... its supposed to compete with the Mustang GT and Camaro SS and those 2 cars dont have a guzzler tax.

One hour behind the wheel of a Challenger, Camaro and Mustang reveal that the Challenger is a much more livable car with a much richer, more solid interior.
Amazing that the Challenger hangs right in there with the Mustang and Camaro given the weight penalty it has. In every performance category it's only 0.1 or 0.2 seconds slower.
Funny how edmunds spins it though, making 0.1 seconds sound like an eternity.

Great car, but not a green machine at all with that 5 speed auto and cast iron block. I love the HEMI, but it's time for a lighter, direct injection all aluminum block.
