AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — The Dodge Viper may be dormant, but its 8.4-liter V10 lives on — in the 2011 Mopar Challenger Drag Pak.
Chrysler plans to build only 70 copies of the track-ready Challenger Drag Pak, starting in early 2011, in Stock Eliminator and Super Stock configurations.
The base price of $85,512 includes a specially tuned version of the Viper V10, mated to a two-speed drag-race transmission with integrated roll control, as well as competition wheels and tires, a Mopar solid rear axle with performance gear ratio, a complete competition fuel system with fuel cell and a complete interior with gauge package. The basic car is finished in Bright White.
Among the options are a $7,950 Competition package that bundles an eight-point roll cage, a six-point safety harness and a mesh window net. Optional exterior colors cost $6,800, and a Mopar logo body wrap is priced at $950.
After unveiling the Challenger Drag Pak over the weekend at the Dodge Viper Owners Invitational in Salt Lake City, the Mopar car will be displayed in early November at the 2010 SEMA Auto Show in Las Vegas.
Orders can be placed online, via the Mopar Direct Connection Tech Line at (888) 528-HEMI (4364), or through a local Dodge dealer.
Inside Line says: Mopar notes that its Challenger Drag Pak programs sold out in 2009 and 2010, so don't let that 85 grand burn a hole in your pocket. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent

1st picture makes it look like a blatant ripoff of the 2010 Cobra Jet Mustang.
