A video advance look — actually an advance listen, since the car is heard rather than seen — is available on Chrysler's media blog, TheFirehouse.biz.
Chrysler first announced its plan to sell a Mopar drag package for the Challenger at the 2007 SEMA show. The automaker says it was inspired by the 1968 Hemi-powered Dodge Dart and Plymouth 'Cuda package cars, driven by "some of drag racing's biggest names," and claims the hot-rod Challenger will be "ready for competition and victories off the Tree."
Rob Richard, director of Mopar parts, sales and service marketing, says the drag-racing package is "for all you fans that love and follow NHRA." He enthuses in the online video: "When Dodge built the SRT 6.1-liter Challenger, we knew we could take it a step further, and that's what we've done.... [This car is] all about horsepower." Most interestingly, he concludes with, "You're gonna see the cars in a few weeks."
What this means to you: Stand by. Apparently it won't be long now. — Laura Sky Brown, Correspondent
