    What Is It?
    Dodge Caliber

    What's Special About It?
Revealed in a glass-smashing stunt by Chrysler's CEO Dieter Zetsche, the Dodge Caliber is intended to "shatter" what people think of small cars. We've heard that line before, but in this case the Caliber concept looks different enough to back up its claim.

Billed as a likely entrant in the global C-segment (think Dodge Neon), the Caliber blends styling from both the coupe and SUV worlds. Five doors are cut into the Caliber's body that takes on a slimmer look thanks to a blacked-out roofline.

It has a low, athletic look from the front thanks to a nearly 60-inch-wide track, meaty 19-inch tires and a traditional Dodge crosshair front grille. Its dimensions are slightly larger than a Pontiac Vibe so expect similar interior room from the production version that will be eventually sold in markets across the world.

    What's Edmunds' Take?
The Caliber looks distinctive enough to catch the eye of budget-conscious consumers who want more than just a commuter car, but the real test will be whether Dodge can deliver a driving experience better than the rental car feeling of the Neon. — Kelly Toepke
