"so my suggestion would be to scrap the Avenger name for the next gen since it really has no brand equity anyway."
And that's the problem right there. The big 3 have been notorious for just scrapping names instead of improving product and building that equity.

Looked at a Durango listed at $41K. Didn't even have leather! WAY too expensive!

Re: msmlexis Destination charge is supposedly what it costs to get the car to the dealer that is selling it. Since these cars come from different factories in different locations, I can see the destination being different. What I do not get is why is the destination the same for every one of a particular model no matter where in the country it is sold. Shouldn't a car sold 10 miles from where it was made have like a zero destination charge? Shouldn't cars sold in Alaska and Hawaii have a bigger destination charge.
That is why I said Supposedly in my first line.
On another note, I still think they could have done a lower price on the Avenger, even if someone would pay full sticker, who would choose a $20,000 Avenger over a $20,000 Altima, Sonata, or Optima? Maybe the next gen will be viewed as competitive enough to compete with other midsizers with a 20k base, but as it is now, the only ones cross shopping an Avenger are people looking at Mitsubishi Galants and maybe Suzuki Kizashis. The original Avenger at least tried to pose as a little sporty car, this one does not, so my suggestion would be to scrap the Avenger name for the next gen since it really has no brand equity anyway. It would be different if it were like a Camry and everyone would buy it just because of its name, but it is no Camry, and it doesn't quite live up to the baby Charger looks either.

I wonder how long the hate can continue, new products, lowered prices, new transmissions, new interiors, sales up 31% in august, new small car on the way. Comeback of the century.

Anyone who bought an '11 Avenger should just be pissed enough that they even bought one.

"Did not like my rental Avenger R/T at all, but the two-tone leather seats in it was at least a departure from the typical rental."
Must have been a '10 Avenger since the new R/Ts arent out yet.
I just sold my Avenger for what I paid for it....I watched it drive away today with my buddy in the drivers seat. To all of you that never drove one like mine I would like to say that everybody from any car mag that drove them liked them very much. I sure liked mine but I just did not need it and I wanted something old and fun to putter with.
"Wow, anyone who recently bought a new '11 Avenger must be reeeeeeeal pissed right now since Fiatsler just dropped the price....."
Over $250? I would be more mad if I was one of the brainless lemmings that drop any kind of money on BMW or Mini.....

MSRP for these cars are mostly meaningless - who pays MSRP for an Avenger?
