2011 Dodge Avenger Reworked

    Just the Facts:
    • Chrysler unveils the new 2011 Dodge Avenger sedan.
    • The interior receives an extensive makeover, while the exterior looks largely unchanged.
    • Engine options include the standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder, and the new 283-horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V6.

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — Chrysler has revamped the Dodge Avenger sedan for 2011, mildly reworking the sheet metal but dramatically upgrading the interior and suspension, while offering new powertrain combinations.

The look hasn't changed much, unlike the situation with the Avenger's longtime stablemate, the Chrysler Sebring, which has morphed into the 2011 Chrysler 200.

Under the skin, however, the 2011 Avenger is quite a different animal. Chrysler extensively re-engineered and retuned the suspension, lowering ride height, widening the track, reducing body roll and improving steering response and precision.

The standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine is supplemented this year with the new 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, which in the 2011 Avenger is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and makes 283 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.

A heavy interior makeover includes a new instrument panel and steering wheel, upgraded seats and new color and fabric choices.

The 2011 Avenger will begin reaching Dodge dealerships later this quarter.

Yep - quite vanilla; but at least they're putting real effort where its needed - the interiors....
Next request: Please design a paint system that actually prevents my car from rusting away in 3 years...

Over all I think it looks good.

My only objections are that the front head lights look a little big and the tail fin on the trunk reminds me of the 1980's.

Interior is a step in the right direction. But the exterior styling of the current Avenger looks dated and since this one looks just like it... its dated too minus the Infiniti G35 Tail Lights... The front end treatment is just ugly. The 2.4L engine should have been replaced or at least they should completely re-engineer it to be much more refined and produce more power bc it is a freakin Dog right now. I heard they still use a 4 spd auto too. Fail.

Actually a nice refresh, but the Avenger really does need a total redesign.

Nice tail lamp treatment. Infiniti's lawyers will be dialing in 3...2...1...

    threemopars -

Isn't that just the Charger?  Or are they actually going to offer that on the Avenger?

Your missing the photo of the red leather seats and door trim that's available, Edmunds.

The Avenger doesn't need a reworking, it needs a replacing.
