GM Daewoo Rolls Out Sportier Winstorm MAXX

SEOUL, South Korea — GM Daewoo has introduced a new version of its turbodiesel compact SUV, the five-passenger Winstorm MAXX, which is a sister vehicle to the Saturn Vue. The Winstorm MAXX is available only in Korea.

Daewoo also announced that it will add a version of the Winstorm with a 2.4-liter gasoline engine to the lineup in the future.

The Winstorm was introduced two years ago. This sportier version gets a few premium tweaks, such as chrome trim and silver skid plates on the bumpers. The cabin has front bucket seats and a three-spoke leather steering wheel. The Winstorm is powered by a 150-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel mated to a five-speed automatic transmission.

The Winstorm MAXX is priced at the equivalent of $27,085 for the Deluxe version and $28,620 for the Hi-Deluxe.

What this means to you: Think of this as Korea's idea of what a sporty version of the Saturn Vue would look like. — Hoseok Park, Correspondent
