- The DS4 Racing is billed as a concept, but look for it soon in production in Europe.
- The DS4 Racing was developed by Citroen Racing, the company's motorsports arm and architect of seven WRC titles.
- The concept features a lowered chassis, wider track, bigger brakes, larger wheels and a more potent 256-horspower engine.
GENEVA — Citroen Racing has had the magic touch in motorsports, as the architect of seven World Rally Championship titles. The French automaker's performance arm brings some of that alchemy to the DS4 Racing concept that debuts shortly at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show.
As with its smaller sibling, the DS3 Racing, the DS4 Racing builds on the production platform, stretching the basic hot-hatch concept to extremes.
Citroen Racing has modified the DS4's 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine to produce 256 horsepower, while returning exceptional fuel economy and emitting relatively low amounts of CO2.
The DS4 chassis has been lowered by 1.4 inches and the track widened by 2.2 inches in front and 3.0 inches in the rear. The car gets larger brakes, as well as 235/40R19 performance tires.
An aero body kit consists of carbon-fiber front splitter, wheel-arch extensions and diffuser. The exterior is finished in textured matte-gray paint, with a two-tone roof and wheels.
Inside Line says: Yet another French mini-rocket that might win favor on these shores.

This is a beautiful car and design.
The recent designs coming out of Citroen are simply amazing. The French word "Avantgarde" really describes their designs. They're elegant and futuristic but also uniquely French and in line with some of Citroens fantastic products from long ago.
I've always been something of a closet Citroen fan appreciating the simplicity yet total advanced engineering of a 2CV or the simply mind blowing DS and SM. Citroen - a brand full of design and engineering passion. It's sad how this technologically innovative brand (as the French car brands have been in general) is often overlooked simply because they're not sold in North America.
I flirted briefly with the idea of purchasing a Citroen XM V6 back in 1993, one of the few imported into North America. Ultimately I didn't because I already had a great car at the time (W124 300E) and there was no need to replace it.

Europeans know how to build a hot hatch, even in the four dour version of this car would make a fine addition to my driveway, sadly I would have to move to London or the UK for that to ever happen.

Really impressed with the look of this car. Too bad we won't see it in North America.
