The French supermini, which goes on sale late this year in European markets, measures 155 inches long — a good 6 inches shorter than a Honda Fit. Citroën says the C3 has a 33.4-foot turning circle, which bests the Fit by 1 foot. Hatch space measures 10.6 cubic feet, which is about half what a Fit can carry.
The subcompact Citroën's Zenith windshield flows up and over the heads of the front-seat occupants and is progressively tinted to provide adequate UV protection from the sun.
Interior features include full iPod and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as an integrated air freshener that emits a "pleasant fragrance," according to the French automaker.
From a technical standpoint, the new C3 is significant in that it is Citroën's first car to emit less than 100g/km of CO2, thanks to clean diesel technology on its 90-horsepower 1.6-liter HDi engine. The company says it will follow with a new family of engines in 2011, including diesels that will incorporate advanced stop/start technology and three-cylinder gasoline engines that will emit less than 100g/km of CO2.
