PARIS — The third model to join the growing Picasso range, the compact Citroën C3 Picasso, makes its public debut in early October at the 2008 Paris Auto Show. The brand's "baby MPV" will be slotted below the Xsara Picasso and the C4 Picasso in size and price. It will go on sale across Europe in early 2009.

Measuring just over 160 inches long overall, the C3 Picasso seats up to five occupants in a flexible cabin that combines elements of MPVs and SUVs, with a variety of innovative storage spaces.

Among the options are a panoramic glass roof, rear parking assist, satellite navigation and a removable flashlight in the trunk.

Powertrain choices include two new four-cylinder gas engines jointly developed with BMW, as well as two low-emissions turbodiesel units.

What this means to you: Pretty cute, pretty practical, especially on the narrow city streets of Europe. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
