Chrysler Recalls 2007-'08 Sebring and Dodge Avenger

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Chrysler will begin a recall of 180,963 of its Sebring and Dodge Avenger models in mid-April to fix an electrical problem that could trigger a variety of conditions, including "engine no-start, dead battery, an inoperative cruise control or remote start system, and/or engine stalling," according to the federal government.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the recall involves vehicles with a standard tire-pressure monitoring system. The government watchdog says "unused electrical connectors" for that system "may become corroded and could short circuit." It notes that the most serious consequence of the problem is that "engine stalling could cause a crash without warning."

Chrysler and Dodge dealers will seal the wires for the tire-pressure monitoring system for free. Owners can contact Chrysler at (800) 853-1403.

What this means to you: If you own one of the aforementioned vehicles, get it to your dealership ASAP. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent
