    What Is It?
    Chrysler PT Big Sky

    What's Special About It?
As you might have guessed from the name, this PT is all about the view. A multi-panel roof design allows both front and rear passengers an unimpeded view of the sky above. A new tinting process allows the overhead panels as well as the side windows to match the color of the car's paint, in this case a specially prepared "Merlot" from PPG. Other image enhancing features include custom front and rear fascias, reshaped fenders, chrome trim for the windows and side moldings and 18-inch BBS wheels. The interior received its fair share of upgrades as well with custom leather upholstery and climate controlled seats that can cool you down or warm you depending on the weather outside. The extensive Panasonic multimedia system consists of a seven-inch monitor in the dash, two seat-mounted monitors for rear passengers and a larger 15-inch screen in the cargo area mounted on a slide out panel for easier viewing from outside.

    Why Should You Care?
The idea of a multi-panel roof that allows much of the overhead structure to slide away has shown up on numerous concepts in the past few years so its eventual deployment in the real world seems inevitable. The PT's dynamic personality would seem like a good fit for this type of system but expect that more upscale (read:expensive) cars will employ the technology first.
