    What is it?
PT Cruiser Concepts: GT Cruiser and Panel Cruiser

    What's special about it?
In order to illustrate the customization possibilities of the PT Cruiser, which is forecasted to be a huge hit with the buying public, DaimlerChrysler has created two concept trucks, the GT Cruiser and the Panel Cruiser. Both vehicles have the same dimensions of the PT Cruiser, but the GT is the performance variation of the PT while the Panel Cruiser showcases the PT in commercial applications. By lowering the vehicle an inch and widening the track by two inches, the GT stands sportier than its brother. A modern, clean-cut appearance is achieved by removing badges on the hood and hatch, dropping the gray plastic bumpers from both ends and stuffing 17-inch tires under the muscular fenders. A more powerful 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 200 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 225 foot-pounds of torque is connected to an American Club Racing (ACR) five-speed manual transaxle. Front and rear KONI/Mopar shocks and upgraded sway bars accompany the lowered suspension. The Panel Cruiser has been modified to showcase the carrying capability of the Cruiser. The rear doors and windows have been replaced with panels, and the rear seats replaced with a wood floor - it could be the basement game room of the homestead. Wooden bars along the side panels with cargo straps enhance the functionality of the space, making the PT useful as a delivery truck. Multiple personality disorder is so much more acceptable in a car than in a prospective mate.

    Why should I care?
DaimlerChrysler figures that if you're individualistic enough to purchase the singularly designed PT, you'll want it to accommodate all your personal idiosyncrasies. These two trucks explore the possibilities.
