WASHINGTON — Chrysler is recalling 26,397 vehicles to replace power steering pressure hoses that could leak fluid onto hot engine components and cause a fire. They include the 2010 Chrysler 300, Chrysler Sebring, Dodge Avenger, Dodge Challenger and Dodge Journey, as well as the 2011 Dodge Ram, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

"Some of these vehicles may experience a separation at the crimped end of the power steering pressure hose assembly," said NHTSA in its recalls summary of the problem. "Leaked power steering fluid onto hot engine components could cause a fire."

In other documentation filed with the federal government, Chrysler said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.

Chrysler and Dodge dealers will replace the power steering pressure hoses in the aforementioned vehicles. The recall is expected to begin by the end of October. Owners can contact Chrysler at (800) 853-1403.

Let me re-phrase: Toyota made a HUGE mistake (due to greed, ambitions, etc).

But before that, their vehicles are PROVEN reliable (don't just ask me...;-)

For Chrysler, eh, not so much... (most) their vehicles have always been BELOW average.

Why only 26k vehicles, you may ask? Eh, maybe because of YEARS of neglect & poor quality, MANY

customers (I know quite a few...) were just tired, have left behind Chrysler, and move on to a more reliable brand.

Without this 'recall', Chrysler will SIMPLY lose more of their ALREADY shrinking market...

It's all Cause & Effect, not Magic...

wikiwiki; Chrystler reliable not quite, not great, but not horrible either. compaired to Toyota's 1.5 Million recall on models several years old, at least Chrystler's recall was modest at best, and they attempted to right the wrong before many accidents took place.  Compared to VW/Audi, Chrystler looks as reliable as a Honda.

Where is 1487 and the other Chrysler apologists?  I am sure they will say this is a biased recall right?  Chrysler is really a great brand with great reliability.  The rest of the world is just ignorant.  LOL!!!!

This is a blemmish compaired to Toyota, and while Toyota claims 100's of thousands of vehicles Chrystler recalls less then 30K units for a a problem that can easily be fixed.  I am not a big supporter of Chrystler vehicles. However, people jumping on the hate Chrytler bangwagon for a quick fix is just ignorant. At least Chrystler didn't ignore the problem, the recognized it early, and are doing their best to rectify the situation....

Toyota just sent out a recall for over 200 thousand units for their 2006, 2007, and 2009 Lexus IS, Toyota 4Runner, and Camry models....Like I said, and you call Chrystler vehicles POC's...

    @alex38

What are you mumbling about Toyota for?! This is about Chrysler!

Toyota made a mistake (perhaps out of 'greed' & ambitions to be #1)

Chrysler? Like 'timmyds3' said, it is just simply 'garbage engineering'

This was not a mistake... Chrysler is just POCs...

Nice try Chrysler but you fall way short of Toyota again.

OCT 21, 2010: Toyota will recall 1.53 million vehicles globally to fix a brake problem that may cause fluid leaks.. Includes Lexus GS300, IS250 and IS350 and Avalon.

Total recall is in excess of 10 million vehicles but i have lost count.  If you include recent 'service campaigns' (which is really just another way of saying 'recall') then i'm guessing its closer to 11 million..

But seriously, this is seriously getting out of control at Toyota (no pun intented).

    @ timmyds3

Bahahahaha! +2! I agree! This recall isn't helping Chrysler's case.
