Slow Striptease of the Chevrolet Volt Begins

    0 Ratings
DETROIT — General Motors continued to ramp up the buzz about its electric Chevrolet Volt over the weekend, giving ABC News a brief glimpse of part of the production car.

Michael Simcoe, executive director of exterior design at General Motors, literally peeled back the sheet on a production Volt, showing off a single, futuristic-looking headlight and a part of the front end.

An ABC News reporter, sitting in what appears to be a prototype interior of the Volt, sometimes called a "buck," describes the cabin as "iPod-esque." But it was clear that GM officials were not allowing a look at the cabin.

ABC News described the development of the electric Volt as "the automotive equivalent of the moon shot."

The Volt is on track to arrive in showrooms in late 2010.
