DETROIT — After sifting through about 27,000 submissions, Chevrolet has announced the finalists in the contest to name a silver-green paint color for the 2011 Chevrolet Volt. The three finalists are "EV-ergreen," "Viridian Joule," and environMINT."
Consumers will pick the winner via online voting through 8 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on December 1. Chevrolet will announce the winner that same day on the eve of the 2009 L.A. Auto Show press days. You can only vote once.
Some of the rejects in the contest were fairly clever. Chevrolet says those included "Chargetruse," "Recharge Silver" and "Voltaic Platinum."
The contest is part of the marketing run-up to the debut of the Volt, GM's much hyped plug-in hybrid. Production of the Volt is expected to begin in late 2010.
Inside Line says: Need a 30-second distraction? Vote on whether the quintessential Chevy Volt will be EV-ergreen or environMINT. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent

Why not be clever? I think the rejects are better than the ones they picked.
There we go again... being politically correct instead of clever and imaginative. You can tell the government is involved.

How is General Motors letting these three abysmal names be used? Why is our country allowing the green movement to become a commercial fad instead of adopting it as a lifestyle change. By choosing these terrible names we are only fueling a quick fad. These names undermine the true environmentalist movement.
