    Just the Facts:
    • Chevrolet will show its Spark Woody at the Paris auto show.
    • The Spark Woody is a one-off art car.
    • This is the latest in a line of "Art Sparks" created by Chevrolet Europe.

NEWQUAY, England — Chevrolet has taken the wraps off the retro Spark Woody, conjuring up such iconic precursors as the fictional woody station wagon created for the 1983 comedy National Lampoon's Vacation. The Chevrolet Spark Woody, a one-off art car, will be featured at the 2010 Paris Auto Show in October.

This is the latest in a line of "Art Sparks" created by Chevrolet Europe. Chevy said it will unveil the next one later in August at the Silverstone Circuit to coincide with the British Touring Car Championship meeting there. No details on that version were released.

Chevrolet noted that the Spark Woody uses no wood. Instead, it uses "a three-quarter vinyl body wrap," it said in a statement. Other details include an Escape Mini-Mal surfboard mounted on the roof. It was unveiled at a Cornish resort here that is known for its surfing.

Inside Line says: The Chevy Spark Woody hangs 10 in Cornwall, if you can picture that. Wonder if there are any Cornish Beach Boys fans. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent

This woody look works on a PT Cruiser, but on this vehicle it is a disaster.  The best retro woody execution was on the '78-81 Chrysler LeBaron Town&Country.  The 83-86 Chrysler LeBaron Mark Cross Town & Country Convertibles were pretty nicely done too.

At the very least, I think this an exercise of "any publicity is good publicity" on GM's part. They can't have thought this was a viable option.

They could have dressed a yellow one up like Sponge Bob too.

Or a green one like Shrek.

That thing is an abomination if they even think for a second to release that, even as a limited production thing i will cry
