LAS VEGAS — Specter Werkes/Sports, a Michigan-based prototype and fabrication shop, is teaming with Lingenfelter Performance Engineering on the Specter Corvette GTR, which debuts next week at the 2009 SEMA Auto Show.
Starting with a Corvette Z06, the car's 7.0-liter LS7 V8 is fitted with a Lingenfelter twin-turbo system, pumping the volume up to 800 horsepower. Specter adds a Corsa exhaust system with GTR-specific exhaust tips.
Chassis bits include a StopTech STR big-brake package with six-piston front calipers and four-pot rears, as well as Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 Zero Pressure rubber mounted on HRE CF40 carbon-fiber wheels.
The GTR is finished in a BASF Pearl Blue paint scheme, with a matte black rear fascia, front splitter, headlamp housing and mirrors. The cabin features Spinneybeck hand-tipped leather interior accents.
Specter says it will offer the GTR package on all C6 Corvette models, including the base coupe and convertible, the Z06 and the ZR1. See Specter's Web site for more details.

Please explain to me why ANY car needs 800hp let alone 1000hp....

Great car, but why only 800 hp? Dodge's Viper can crank out over a 100o with twin turbo's. I think I would still take a ZR-1 or a Viper ACR. Maybe a few of Euro- branded vehicles could make the list. Thats about all that would qualify to be on my super-car list

It looks... strange... awful really. Why can't people leave well enough alone?
