DETROIT — The 2013 Chevrolet Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition will arrive in showrooms this summer, along with an optional 60th Anniversary Package for all 2013 Corvette models.

Pricing has not been announced on either.

The first 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible will cross the auction block on January 21 at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the Drive to End Hunger food relief program.

GM said in a statement on Thursday that the special-edition 505-horsepower Corvette, which combines the convertible model with a 7.0-liter (427 cubic-inch) LS7 engine from the Corvette Z06, is the "fastest, most capable convertible in Corvette's history." The LS7 is also the most powerful engine ever installed in a production Corvette convertible, GM said. The engine is linked to a six-speed manual transmission.

GM says the 427 Convertible sprints from zero to 60 mph in an estimated 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of more than 190 mph.

GM said that customers who buy the convertible can add on the "Corvette Build Experience" option and "assemble the engine that will power their new car." The option was priced at $5,800 for the 2011 Corvette Z06 or ZR1.

The Corvette 427 Convertible is equipped with standard Magnetic Selective Ride Control and 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels. It features a carbon-fiber raised hood, carbon-fiber Z06-style fenders and carbon-fiber floor panels. A CFZ carbon-fiber front splitter and rocker panels are optional.

The 60th Anniversary Package features an Arctic White exterior paint job and a Blue Diamond leather-wrapped interior with suede accents. Convertible models get a blue top.

Other goodies include a ZR1-style rear spoiler, special badging, gray-painted brake calipers and "60th" logo on the wheel center caps, steering wheel and seat headrests. An optional graphics package adds racing stripes in Pearl Silver Blue.

GM says the 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible "represents the first time a Collector Edition and Anniversary Edition are being offered in the same year — and available on the same car."

"Please elaborate on your personal sucesses and life values on this internet car forum, your c*** is growing bigger by the second!"

Give us a break!  You are the biggest braggart on this site nest to hooklyn.  You have to put your car as your screen name?  Talk about adequacy issues!  If your life values include a 100K German car then you are pretty messed up.  Do us peasants a favor and go find a circle jerk Porsche forum......the crap you spew is really foul.

The Vette is what it is....the best performance car for the price on the planet, period.  That is what it pretty much has always been.  It is also a hell of a lot more reliable and cheaper to maintain than the vanity plate German cars.  If you like one, buy one...if you like a GT-R then more power to you!  I am sure those who buy such cars love them and could care less about what others think.....and that is how it should be!

some of the bloggers are not helping to break the perception that sports car drivers are dbags.  stick to the topic.  The interior is getting pretty close to acceptable.

Look how much fun IL had with the old Vette Z06--and that had a much sorrier interior.  Yes, the experience could be better, but I think the car is providing the fun it was meant to deliver.

In general the C6 is not a bad car.  Is cheap built.  That is the concept behind the Corvette.  GM just keep putting more "luxury stuff" in it and making special edition models and updating it to the latest technology.  In simple wrods... trying to fix it and make it better.  There is a market for those who want one or have a desire to own one. Nothing wrong with that.

Performance wise is a great car (ZO-6 I.M.O).  Even Porsche and other sport car manufacturers recognized it as well.

But... if you buy one, you will deal with some quality issues.  That is a given when you own one.  Granted... Great performance, cheap quality & cheap to fix.

    @vantageman,

You are 100% Correct.  There is nothing wrong with the Interior of the Vette. Period....

It is a case of people simply parroting what the auto editors parrot about the Corvette.  The auto editors do it because the Corvette out performs most other sports cars, many of these cars cost nearly 1/2 to twice as much money.  How else are they going to justify the Hugh price differential for the cars of the auto makers that pays them $$$$ advertising fees....?

When the performance numbers do not lie, you have to turn to subjective topics to justify the more expensive car that no one can prove or disprove.  All auto editors do this.  All fan boys parrot the results.

That is why when the Porsche guys loses to the Vette you start hearing the But "I am one with the car", "I really is a better drivers car", "The precision of the steering makes it so much more enjoyable", "My Steering wheel looks better",  etc....

I usually respond with "Yea I noticed that as I was passing you....".

I love the bias that these "so called" enthusiast have its hilarious. The Corvette is a sports car first an foremost secondly if you want a luxury car there are plenty of "GTs" that you can buy instead XKR, SL, Gran Turismo, Aston Martin, Continental GT.......If you want a sports car that doesnt run well over $100,000 and yet offers the performance capability of cars that are well over $100,000 but for hmmm half that $48000 guess what its not going to have the same interior as those cars. Thats "common sense" not to mention I hear people always trashing the interior of the Corvette YET when it comes to the Porsche 911 a car that has a terrible interior for decades with its cheap plastic and carpet (why is it carpet lining the door panels seriously?) laden interior noboy ever makes mention of except just a few journalists who arent afraid  to knock Porsche. Without the 911s interior being leather wrapped it is just a mess of cheap all one color plastics, silver faux aluminum trim,  manual seats, poor ergonomics, dated electronics, and cheap leather. Soooo, everyone always saids in response to things like that oh the 911 is a true sports car its supposed to be basic, its not supposed to have a luxury car interior its a Porsche yet a  sports car that costs roughly half as much is supposed to??? No common sense

oh, I still wouldn't mind owning a vette someday.  not a convertible

The horde has agreed, they don't like the interior.  It's not like Vettes are low cost cars, I just don't know why GM isn't listening to the same complaints over the last 20 years.  The seats look OK to me, but the hard-lloking console and particularly the crappy steering wheel do not.  And the steering wheel is a bigger deal because it's in your hands all the time you are in the car.  It should be just as important as the other part of you that is always touching the car--your butt.

I have to disagree with those of you about the Corvettes interior. I just bought a 2012 Corvette Grand Sport Centennial Edition (4lt)(73K). The interior is beautiful. Custom leather everywhere. Soft touch Alcantara every where else. The seats are so much better than last years. The side bolsters are bigger and the Alcantara inserts really holds you in place during hard cornering. So all of you that hate the Corvette just to hate, go and sit in a Centennial Edition with 4lt you will be amazed. BTW the gas mileage is so much better than a M3 (20mpg) and C63 (19mpg). I got 26.5 mpg on a highway trip with an engine that had less than a 1k miles on it. What kind of cars do you own the haters I mean. I dare you to find a car that will do 190mph, get 26mpg etc, etc, etc for 73K. There is nothing yet, you have to move to a 95K GTR. Chevy gave me 10k off the car which puts it at 63k, you can not get anything off a GTR at least at the dealerships around my house.

Who the hell cares what the interior looks like! If you want a pretty interior, but an Audi or some mindless high-falutin' luxury sedan.
A Corvette could have a milk crate and and a tiller but you're driving a Corvette top down!
