DETROIT — To mark its 100th birthday and rich motorsports heritage, Chevrolet this summer will offer the 2012 Centennial Edition package on all Corvette models, including Grand Sport, Z06 and ZR1.
The bowtie brand was co-founded in 1911 by Swiss-born racecar driver Louis Chevrolet, who earlier in his career raced for Buick. Chevy was acquired by General Motors in 1917.
The Centennial Edition package, available on all Corvette models via order code ZLC, is finished exclusively in Carbon Flash Metallic, with satin-black graphics and unique Centennial Satin Black wheels and red brake calipers. The lightweight cast-spun aluminum wheels are offered in several sizes — 18-inch/19-inch for Corvette Coupe, Convertible and Grand Sport; and 19-inch/20-inch for Z06 and ZR1.
The package also includes Magnetic Selective Ride Control.
The Centennial Edition cockpit continues the exterior color theme. The instrument panel and doors are wrapped in ebony leather, with contrasting red stitching on the seats, steering wheel, console and shifter.
A graphic logo with an image of Louis Chevrolet is featured on the B-pillars, wheel center caps and steering wheel hub, while an embossed centennial logo is included on the seat headrests.
Chevy will auction a 2012 Corvette Z06 Centennial Edition — the 100th 2012 Corvette off the assembly line — this weekend at the Barrett-Jackson collector-car auction in West Palm Beach, Florida, with the proceeds to benefit the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer.
Chevy said pricing on the Centennial Edition package will be released this summer.
Inside Line says: Considering its aspiration to play off the brand's racing heritage, it's too bad the Centennial Edition Corvette doesn't include some additional performance hardware. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent

I Like it. It looks really good, if they could only do a few tweaks to the interior it would be awesome.

This Centennial edition Vette should be one of the Top Ten Best Looking Cars of 2012. Please take note, IL editors.

Beautiful!
Looks better to me than the exotics it competes with.

Interestingly, Corvette's steering wheel is integral part of chassis and cannot be altered
