DETROIT — An E85 ethanol-powered Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will lead a parade of more than 100 General Motors vehicles, as the Detroit automaker celebrates its anniversary during the 2008 Woodward Dream Cruise. GM has dubbed the event the "Century Cruise."
In a sort of automotive version of American Idol, GM said it will crown a "top cruiser." Each cruiser will be assigned a number, and participants can vote for their favorite car by text-messaging GM and the assigned number to 466398 (GMnext) between August 6 and August 16 at 6 p.m. EDT. The winner will be announced on August 16.
The high-profile event is designed to launch GM's 100th-anniversary celebration, which gets underway in earnest in September.
