BANGKOK, Thailand — The wraps came off the Chevrolet Colorado Show Truck on Monday ahead of its global debut at the 2011 Bangkok Auto Show, showing off a "stylized" version of the midsize pickup truck.
Chevrolet said in a statement that the new Colorado goes on sale in Thailand later this year. But it told Inside Line that it would not spell out any production plans beyond Thailand.
"The Colorado Show Truck was developed to test consumer interest around the globe in this growing segment," wrote Michael T. Albano, Chevrolet director of communications in response to an e-mailed query from Inside Line. "It's an exciting statement of capability and performance, two traits that have become synonymous with Chevrolet. In our centennial year, the show truck is an appropriate celebration of our strong truck heritage. Beyond Thailand, we have no production plans to announce."
It has been widely speculated that the new version of the Colorado will not be sold in the U.S.
The Show Truck features an extended-cab body, all-wheel drive and a 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine. Other details include 20-inch wheels, a dual-cockpit instrument panel and motorcycle-inspired gauges. The Show Truck is dressed up in Pepperdust Metallic exterior paint with polished aluminum accents.
GM said that the production version will retain "the basic proportions and form."

I think its a good looking truck! But i wish it was here to buy. And by the way for all the people that have nothing better to do but gripe about the bail out why don"t you gripe about toyota in nascar or the fact that healthcare is getting stuffed up youre ? my point is i would be ok with paying to keep my fellow men and women working and building me and my friends a great auto! hell thats all i drive

Finally, a small truck with an efficient and torquey diesel. 25+ mpg and decent towing! ...oh wait, nevermind, it's not coming here.
Are you kidding? The only truck I would buy, a small-to mid-size diesel, is STILL not being produced and apparently GM is eager to ask for another bailout in a couple years (pending imminent failure). I don't think the taxpayers will up for it a second time.
Common sense: ditch the anemic inline 5 in the current Colorado and bring back the award-winning inline-6 that was in the Trailblazer to start...it was the best engine choice GM had going and they dropped it. Why? It seems GM is hell-bent on failing. Again.
Oh, and stop re-naming cars (S-10 to Colorado, Cavalier to Cobalt, Aveo to Something Else) just because the name is slowly associated with a piece of turd. Stick with the name and simply make the car better. Ever notice how successful monikers and brands with integrity stand by their names--ex: BMW #-Series, Accord, Camry, Wrangler, etc? You can only polish turds so much before you have smeared s#!t all over the place.
Save your brand and start making decent vehicles that make sense: 1. Build this truck, 2. Make a diesel option available, 3. Sell lots of them, 4. Start making Americans proud again, 5. Keep whatever name you come up with and don't screw it up! 6. While I am writing, bring back the Chevette.

GM has finally made a small pick up with the style that can actually have it competing with Toyota and Nissan, the only problem is they put the steering wheel on the wrong side.
Even if the tonneau cover and the body colored flying buttresses are options, it would still be a very sharp looking truck. Especially if the engines can compete better than the last generation did. Just don't bost about the only V8 in the class, the way Dodge did with the Dakota, because the Frontier's V6 felt much more powerful.

GM finally makes a compact truck that actually looks good, and not for a rental fleet, and they aren't bringing it over here. It amazes me that the big three, which are american, mostly made in america, and were founded here save all their goodies for the foreign markets. This is why they can't compete w/ the likes of the Tacoma, It (the Tacoma) dominates over here for that very reason, no real competition. I am not a very big fan of GM since the bailout, but they have made strides in making better trucks and nicer looking ones as well, just bring the damn thing over here. And just mabye they can change my thinking.

That is one effeminate looking truck. If that were a man, he would be discribingwith a lisp how much loved his lattes, trying to tell the other guys how they could accessorize better and bragging on his new fusia drapes and zebra print throw pillows. It is that kind of effeminate truck.

oh yeah I forgot. Get rid of the tonneau cover thing. Not only does it improve the visibility as noted earlier. Removing the bed tupperware improves the looks
