WENTZVILLE, Missouri — General Motors plans to shift production of the midsize Chevrolet Colorado pickup from Louisiana to Missouri when the redesigned truck is launched in model year 2013.

The redesigned Colorado was developed in Brazil and introduced last month in Thailand.

GM said it plans to invest $380 million in its Wentzville assembly plant to prepare for the U.S. production launch of the truck.

Until then, the current Colorado will be assembled through model year 2012 at GM's plant in Shreveport.

Inside Line says: No word on what happens to Colorado's slow-selling stablemate, the GMC Canyon.

I will be in the market for a new mid size truck when this comes out PLEASE sell it with the Diesel. I wont buy a new truck that only gets 22-25 mpg and cant tow some real weight. Give us Americans a choice we want better gas milage but still need a truck that can work hard.

I think you misunderstood my comment. I didn't say Jay Z is the best rapper :P.

Anyways, I'm not really a big fan of the current Chevrolet grill and my nagging doesn't stop there but I have to say, they've improved quite a lot especially when it comes to the materials used and the powertrains being offered but then again so did the competition.

Can't say the same for Cadillac though. I think the art and science design language is getting quite old but that doesn't mean its getting ugly. Interiorwise, I'm excited seeing what the ATS will look inside. Spy shots are already pleasing, what's more the actual thing.

My comment on the Ford Ranger's upgrades, should read hasn't, not has; ..."Not bad for a truck that hasn't had a decent modern engine upgrade or body change in twenty years"...

@mz6greyghost; Actually the Ford Ranger is not a mid-size truck, never has been, and amazingly Ford sold over 2 million of these "antique's" over the past decade. Not bad for a truck that has had a decent modern engine upgrade or body change in twenty years. The Dakota, Tacoma and Frontier are all technically midsize trucks, with the Ford Ranger being the last true small size truck. Now the clueless one's at Ford have decided that the millions that bought their Ranger's weren't really interested in small trucks, and are ending the Ranger line in the US, they have never been so wrong.

The new Chevy Colorado, appears to be a nice attempt by GM to bring a more "Car Like" Mid-size truck to the marketplace. Not a bad more, since nearly 80% of ALL light duty trucks are used for commuting, and demand for fuel efficient trucks has never been higher (Think, Small Diesel GM).

@hybris; I think you must be stuck in the world of $2.00/ gallon gas, a V8 you've got to be kidding, with the great new sixes you'll never need it. For you commuters out there a turbo charged four or a small diesel will be fit the bill fine.

Tacoma and Frontier have pretty much dominated this segment over the past decade, and they took out the Ranger and Dakota.  GM had better get this right, and hope it catches on as much as the Cruze has.

I can't wait for it to go on sale.  I love my 2006 colorado Z71.  I just hope GM actually brings the diesel along with it.

Massively ugly and looks like a rebadged import probably part Honda Ridgeline part Toyota Tundra.

The interior isn't much better with the way that center console looks.

In fact the only positive thing I can see here is it does come in a regular cab configuration.

Hopefully GM will be smart and offer either or a V8 option or diesel option.
