Unveiled: 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt SS Sedan

    1 Rating
DETROIT — Chevrolet has released the first official image of the 2009 Cobalt SS Sedan, the four-door companion to the Cobalt SS Coupe it unveiled last fall at SEMA. Both cars go on sale this summer.

The Cobalt SS will share its turbocharged, direct-injection 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with the Pontiac Solstice GXP, the Saturn Sky Red Line and the Chevy HHR SS. The engine makes a lusty 260 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque and in the Cobalt SS will provide sub-6-second 0-60-mph acceleration times.

Chevy hasn't released details on the '09 Cobalt SS Sedan, but expect the sticker to match that of the coupe, which will start at just under $23,000.

What this means to you: GM continues to inject more performance — at a premium price — into its compact models in the States. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
