What's special about it?
This Cavalier coupe is powered by a turbocharged version of GM's new 2.2-liter Ecotech four-cylinder. Considering that the current Cavalier is already one of the fastest economy sport coupes around with only 150 horsepower, this 220-hp version would have no trouble dusting off pesky Civic Sis and Sentra SE-Rs.
In addition to the potent powerplant under the hood, the 220 Turbo wears revised front and rear fascias, body side moldings, a ram air hood and a rear spoiler. Nineteen-inch Racing Hart wheels and a Borla exhaust complete the street machine look.
Why should you care?
GM's 2.2-liter Ecotech engine is the company's four-cylinder of the future. If GM wants to compete with the Japanese for the young enthusiast dollar, it'll have to demonstrate the performance potential of its new global powerplant.
