SEALY, Texas — John Hennessey's tuning house, Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE), has put up a video on YouTube showcasing the power and handling prowess of its HPE700 LS9 Camaro, which offers up 725 horsepower and 741 pound-feet of torque. The vehicle takes a lap around the 17-turn, 2.38-mile MSR Houston track in Angleton, Texas, in the video.
You can hear the supercharger screaming while the car's 20-inch Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires grip the tarmac through each turn. In the video, the tuner conveniently displays the speed, later G-forces, lap time, a map of the track and even video inside the cockpit of the driver piloting the car. HPE claims a 3.5-second 0-60-mph time, skid pad of 1.01g (which you see in the video) and a quarter-mile of 11.3 seconds.
Other performance features include 15-inch carbon Brembo brakes, KW Variant 3 coil-overs and an aero package consisting of a carbon-fiber rear lip, side skirts, front splitter, bumper with hideaway-look headlights, billet grille and, finally, a ZR1-esque hood with a window to the LS9 power plant.
You can check out HPE's Web site for more details. Hennessey also mentions that the first HPE700 Camaro built (serial number 1) is still available for purchase, with only a total of 24 being made.
