    Just the Facts:
    • The advertisement shows the Chevy Camaro drifting through city streets.
    • At one point during the spot, the yellow Camaro transforms into the Autobot Bumblebee and gears up to fight some evil Decepticon transformers.
    • The third installment of the Transformers series, Dark of the Moon, will be released on June 29.

DETROIT — The latest advertising spot for the Chevrolet Camaro shows the car transforming into Bumblebee, its Autobot alter-ego, in anticipation of the release of the next Transformers movie installment on June 29.

Called the "Getaway" spot, the ad shows a battle of epic proportions, with the Camaro holding its own against weapon-wielding enemies. The car first navigates a fiery landscape, weaving through debris just before transforming into Bumblebee and fighting its Decepticon enemy.

Some of the other vehicles that will be featured in the film include the NASCAR Chevrolet Impala, Ferrari 458 Italia, Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Chevrolet Spark and even a Mercedes-Benz W212 and SLS AMG.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon debuts June 29, and has Shia LaBeouf back for more as Sam Witwicky. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley plays Carly Miller and is new to the franchise after Megan Fox got the boot from Michael Bay last May.

What I liked about the Camaro design initially, is exactly the same thing I liked about the 300M - the chopped top look was all the rage for a period of time.  The problem is, that time has passed (in my eyes).  What I would really like to see is a less blocky, heavy-looking version that focuses on great handling, good power and an open, airy cockpit.  The tank-slit windows are just not helpful in everyday driving and we already know that reducing overall weight of a car helps in handling, required power as well as mpg's.

I beg to differ ed341, and apparently so do thousands of buyers.

The Camaro is now outselling the Mustang - the first time since 1986. I think this is because Ford has kept the Mustang close to it's original (1969-70) design origins and it comes across as retro/bland and sagging sales reflect this, while GM pushed the design envelope of the Camaro to the extreme (some calling it cartoonish) yet as it aged it has lost it's initial shock value and has become just modern looking. I think the design will last for a few more years without becoming stale like the Mustang already has even though it was refreshed this year. In my opinion the Camaro strikes just the right balance between retro and cutting edge design. The latest Transformers movie... that's another story.

The Camaro is growing as long in the tooth and tiresome as these movies. This design has been around about 3 years before the FIRST movie came out. We get it already...
