ALBANY, New York — Baldwin-Motion, the brand behind some of the wildest big-block Camaro conversions in the '60s and '70s, is back with new partners and a new batch of modern muscle cars priced from less than $80,000.
Joel "Mr. Motion" Rosen, who created the original Motion Camaros more than 40 years ago, now has teamed with tuning specialist Howard Tanner, president of Redline Motorsports in Schenectady, New York, to develop a new line of high-output Camaros that will be sold through Albany dealer DeNooyer Chevrolet.
Unlike the most recent Motion Camaros, which were essentially hand-built from 2005-'09 and priced in the stratosphere, the latest editions are based on the production 2011 Chevrolet Camaro, with dyno-tested engines from GM Performance Parts, modified and tuned by Redline and delivered through DeNooyer Chevrolet's Performance Division.
The 2011 Motion Camaros are being offered in SS and Phase III trim, with a choice of GM's LS7 427 (7.0-liter) V8 or the massive LSX 454 (7.4-liter) V8. The Motion SS-427 Camaro develops a dyno-tested 525 horsepower; the Motion SS-454 Camaro, 550 hp; the Motion Phase III 427 Camaro, 600 hp; and the Motion Phase III 454 Camaro, 625 hp.
A range-topping Motion III 427-SC Camaro "supercar" features a supercharged LS7 developing 800 hp and is priced from around $150,000.
Features on the Motion III 427-SC Camaro include an upgraded TR6060 six-speed manual transmission, Corvette ZR1 dual-disc clutch, MGW short-throw shifter, Pfadt coil-over suspension, Brembo brakes and custom Motion wheels, hood, front fascia, rear spoiler and striping.
Inside Line says: Sorry, muscle-car fans, but the initial $150,000 Motion III 427-SC Camaro is already spoken for. Says Rosen: "I've ordered the first one." — Paul Lienert, Correspondent

Hmmm for the kind of stupid money they ask for these "special edition camaros" I could build an awesome 4th Gen Camaro street racer from engine to rearend for 1/2 the money and one that actually hooks and use all the HP/TRQ available -Oh wait I'm already doin that! -JMO

I am glad Chevy reintroduced the Camaro so now we not only have to read about every special edition Mustang and Audi, but now we have to read about Camaros too. I must say, I am very disappointed in all you Mustang and Audi fanboys out there because I don't see much hating going on here, considering all the hating all of you take whenever IL reports on the latest ashtray upgrade on your stuff.

No, I get the point completely. I just don't agree w/ it. The car is ugly. As for collectors, these are the same people who pay seven figures for old musclecars that are practically worthless because you can't even really drive them for fear of damage to the car and loss of originality. It's just stupid. I'll never see it any other way.

Being a current Baldwin Motion classic car owner you are missing the point. These cars will become valuable due to the fact they are legendary. Joel Rosen has had many opportunities to continue the Motion legacy and until now he has not found anyone worthy to carry the name.
These cars are not being built to be the fastest cars on the planet. They are carrying on the motion name. Say what you want but Motion cars fetch the most from collectors.
I wish them luck. It is exciting to see modern day muscle cars return.

Lame. So now you have a $150K car that will turn only marginally better times than a stock one due to the inevitable traction issues, tacky body mods, and ugly decals. Fantastic. And lol at the 'supercar' package. This car is in no way, shape, or form a supercar. Not even w/ 800hp.

To K55- if you reread the article you will notice that they are not stating that Balwin Motion originated in Upstate NY. They are stating that Rosen has now PARTNERED with a group in UPSTATE NY . So, to answer your question, there is not a mistake to be noticed. Just wanted to clarify that for you. :)

Baldwin Motion originated in Baldwin, Long Island,NY ( not upstate NY ). Are they hoping that no one notices?

"If you have to ask that than the Camaro is the wrong car for you anyway and would be totally missing the point of one......"
+1
Being traction limited is pretty cool, esp in 3-4th gear.

You could ask why bother with a 800HP traction limited uber muscle car when you can get something a little more refined for your 150K?
