DETROIT — When the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 convertible reaches U.S. dealers in late 2012, it will be the most powerful Chevy soft top ever, with a supercharged 6.2-liter LSA V8 delivering 580 horsepower and 556 pound-feet of torque. The new Camaro ZL convertible makes its public debut next month at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Chevy was quick to note that the ZL1's LSA engine will easily trump those that power such exotic and muscle cars as the 2012 Aston Martin DB9 Volante, 2012 Mercedes SL63 AMG, 2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S and 2011 Ford Shelby GT500.
Engineers have built in additional structural reinforcements to reduce noise and vibration in the drop top ZL1. The car is also fitted with GM's magnetic ride suspension, with adjustable dampers all around, plus performance traction management adapted from the Corvette ZR1.
Inside Line says: This one is likely to be nearly as popular as the upcoming ZL1 coupe, which goes on sale in early 2012.

Wow! Totally awesome. What a car. And a convertible no less. I am impressed. A real 'stang slayer.
Chevy made a great move with this one. Cool looks and good performance too. I'm certain this will blow the doors off a lot of 'stangs and Challengers. Now it won't beat a ZR1 around Nürburgring, but it is a cool car. However, personally I like the performance and handling of my ZR1 better. But for a ride in a convertible, I may have to add one to my garage.

I really like the looks of the Camaro. If Chevy makes a better car what about a longer warranty and pop up roll bars in case of a roll over with all that power.

I still like the coupe version better but this does have a special appeal for those living in the sunny states...I can just imagine what the engines sounds like with the top down while gunning it!!! Sweet...
