Camaro fans, your long wait is just about over. Thankfully, it looks like Chevy has stuck to its guns, as this production 2010 V6 Camaro looks just like the Concept car that GM showed in Detroit more than two years ago. Obviously the production car lacks the concept’s slammed stance, blacked out windows and massive wheels. Still, the 20 inch wheels shown here will be a real option. V8 powered Camaros will get an SS badge although GM is curiously not revealing that car just yet. While the SS and its 420 hp, 6.2 liter V8 will grab it share of headlines, the V6 version is potent as well. It uses GM’s 3.6 liter direct-injection V6 making roughly 305 hp. Chevy engineers estimate 18 miles per gallon in the city and 27 on the highway – that’s better fuel economy and more power than a V6 Mustang. The RS package pictured here is available on both the V6 and SS and it includes HID headlights, a rear spoiler and the 20-inch wheels. In short, an SS with the RS package will look a lot like this car. It’s still early, but so far it looks like the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro won’t suffer the all-show, no-go fate of past concept turned production cars (we’re looking at you Plymouth Prowler). We’ll know more when we get behind the wheel in a few months but so far it looks like the new Camaro will please new fans and purists alike.
