SEALY, Texas — John Hennessey's Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) has started production of its 2010 HPE700 Camaro. It will build three of the vehicles each month, with delivery starting in October.

Hennessey calls the vehicle the "most powerful 2010 Camaro SS without nitrous," and it very well might be with its whopping 755 horsepower and 717 pound-feet of torque. The Camaro HPE700 is powered by the supercharged 6.2-liter LS9 V8 running 14.5 psi of boost. It also features 15-inch carbon Brembo brakes, lightweight wheels shod in Michelin PS2 rubber and a customized KW suspension. The aero package includes a carbon-fiber rear lip spoiler, side skirts, front splitter, bumper with hideaway-look headlights, a billet grille and a ZR1-inspired hood with a window to the engine compartment.

There was some doubt about the HPE550's huge power numbers due to the fact that it was running a 98-octane mix, but Hennessey insists in the video that the HPE700 put down 645 hp and 653 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels on 93-octane pump fuel.

HPE already has 13 orders for the $119,500 vehicle and only plans to build 24 units for the 2010 model year. Buyers will also receive a one-day performance driving class at Lonestar Motorsports — a drag strip located right next to Hennessey's production facility.

The 2010 HPE700 Camaro will be officially unveiled in the Mobil One booth on November 3 at the 2009 SEMA Show.

Inside Line says: There's no doubt that Hennessey knows how to make good-looking vehicles with more power than their owners may know what to do with. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent

I'm sorry, this car is really awesome and all but am I the only one that is having some serious sticker shock from the $119,500 price tag? If I close my eyes and think of all the cars I would want to buy for that price, a modded Camaro is most certainly not on my mind!
