    Just the Facts:
    • Chevrolet will build 200 replicas of the 2010 Indy 500 pace car.
    • These limited-edition cars will be based on the Camaro 2SS with the RS package.
    • You can have any color you want as long as it's Inferno Orange with white rally stripes.

DETROIT — Saying it is out to woo "die-hard fans" of the Camaro and the Indianapolis 500, Chevrolet confirmed on Tuesday that it will build and sell a $41,950 replica of the Camaro Indianapolis 500 Pace Car.

Just 200 units of the 2010 Camaro Indianapolis 500 Pace Car Replica Limited Edition will be built and sold through 187 of the top-selling Camaro dealers based on 2009 retail sales, Chevrolet said in a statement.

It is the first time in 17 years that a Camaro derived from the Indy 500 pace car will be built by Chevy. The GM brand also offered replicas of the pace cars in 1969, 1982 and 1993. The 2010 version is based on a Camaro 2SS with an RS appearance package. It will be powered by a 400-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 linked to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Details include 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, White Pearl decal rally stripes, an Inferno Orange heritage front grille and engine cover, premium floor mats, 2010 Indianapolis 500 event logo decal on the doors and embroidered on driver and passenger headrests, and 2010 Indianapolis 500 event logo badges on the front fenders.

"We set out to build a collectible vehicle that will appeal to the die-hard Camaro and Indianapolis 500 fan," said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet marketing U.S. vice-president, in a statement.

Shame on Chevrolet for only making it with the automatic trans.

$42k for an Orange CHEVROLET Camaro?! A Chevrolet?!

The last time I check, the base Audi A5 cost exactly the same. And that Coupe is WAY more handsome...

Heck, for performance, I'd choose the 370Z anyday!
