LAS VEGAS — In addition to at least half a dozen independent efforts at the 2009 SEMA Auto Show, the Chevrolet Camaro is hogging the spotlight at the General Motors SEMA display. Five Camaros give showgoers a taste of how they might customize their cars via the GM parts bin, from graphics packages to serious go-fast hardware.

The Jay Leno Camaro is the true muscle car of the bunch, with its 3.6-liter V6 fitted with a pair of Turbonetics T-3 turbochargers and an air-to-air intercooler, boosting output to 425 horsepower. The car also features a Be-Kool radiator and custom exhaust system, as well as a Centerforce clutch and pressure plate for the six-speed manual gearbox. Brembo six-piston brakes and a Pedders coil-over lowering kit are among the hardware upgrades. The exterior gets a new front fascia with custom grilles and foglamps, brake cooling vents, a rear diffuser and an air-extractor hood.

The other four Camaros have been "accessorized" with many parts that can be ordered directly through your local Chevy dealer.

The Camaro Synergy showcases the new Synergy Green exterior color that will be offered next year on a special-edition Camaro. Accessories include 21-inch wheels with polished rims and black center finish; a ground-effects kit; hood stripes; a high-wing rear spoiler and a performance air intake. The Synergy model also gets Brembo brakes, a Pedders coil-over lowering kit and Synergy Green interior accents.

The Camaro Chroma is based on a Camaro SS/RS, finished in Summit White and kitted out with 21-inch wheels, a "blade" rear spoiler, a ground-effects package, unique grille and silver stripes. The Chroma's LS3 V8 features a performance intake manifold and performance exhaust system with "shorty" headers, as well as Brembo brakes with red calipers and a six-speed manual gearbox with Hurst short-throw shifter. Interior appointments include black-and-gray leather seats with red stitching.

The Camaro Dusk has a custom ground-effects package with front splitter, side sills and rear diffuser, as well as lowered ride height and 21-inch BBS wheels. Brembo brakes and a performance exhaust system are lifted from the production Camaro SS. In the cockpit, you'll find a Boston Acoustics audio system, plus WiFi connectivity and an iPhone cradle.

The Camaro Graphics, as the name implies, showcases different designs for accessory graphics packages, as selected by Chevy fans on the brand's Facebook page. The car will carry a different theme each day.

Inside Line says: If SEMA is synonymous with muscle, this year's twin theme might also be spelled C-A-M-A-R-O. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
