LAS VEGAS — The 2009 SEMA show is already starting to rev up with word that SEMA will auction the first pre-production Hurst/Camaro in mid-October. In a quirky touch, the custom car includes signatures from the Hurst executive team under the trunk lid.
SEMA says eBay Motors will host the auction, with proceeds benefiting the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund. The scholarship helps students who are pursuing degrees and careers in the auto industry.
The Hurst/Camaro comes right out of the classic SEMA playbook. The exterior is done up in black with silver and red stripes. Details include 20-inch forged aluminum Hurst T-2 wheels, an Eibach suspension, a Hurst rear deck spoiler and a Magnaflow stainless exhaust. The cabin gets a Hurst Competiton Plus short-throw shifter and pistol-grip shift.
The car was donated for the auction by General Motors and Hurst Performance Vehicles. Hurst also plans to introduce its new 2010 Hurst/Camaro Performance Series at the 2009 SEMA show.
Inside Line says: An outstanding car, a worthy cause and one of the most anticipated events of the year: a killer combination. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent
