Based on the Chevy S-10, the Baja Crew Cab jumps into the popular new four-door pickup class with both feet. Sprayed in two-tone Yellow Acid Metallic paint, the five-passenger, four-wheel-drive truck is taller and wider than your average S-10. The ZR2 sport suspension has been upgraded with a wider track, Bilstein shocks, four-wheel disc brakes and 17-inch polished billet aluminum wheels. GM's 4.3-liter Vortec V6 powers the Baja with 190 horsepower and 250 ft-lbs. of torque.
Mechanical trickery is only a half of the Baja's equation. The truck uses a custom roll bar, ZR2 wheel flares, a tubular step bar, a soft tonneau cover and a cowl induction hood to go along with that metallic paint's visual statement. Inside it gives passengers in each row of seats their own power sunroof, plus a power sliding rear window and a custom gauge cluster with "splashy" graphics. Chevy says it has "swagger and pizzazz." We'll follow conventional wisdom, and not say anything at all.
