SHANGHAI, China — Chang'an Auto, which is partnered in China with Ford and Suzuki, will roll out several new products of its own design at the 2009 Shanghai Auto Show, but none will be quite as idiosyncratic as the Chana E301, a design study for a compact crossover.
The E301 doesn't lack for humor; it boasts gullwing doors and a rather distinctive plan view, to say the least.
According to the Chinese media, the E in E301 stands for "electric." More details will be available next week.
Inside Line says: As a design study, we think it's lots of fun. As far as production intent, that may be another story. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
