Unveiled: Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster

    1 Rating
SAN CESARIO SUL PANARO, Italy — The latest delectation from supercar builder Horacio Pagani redefines the notion of "limited edition": Only five copies of the new Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster will be built, and at a cool $1,825,000 each. Plus tax, of course.

Like the carbon-titanium-bodied Zonda Cinque hardtop, the Zonda Cinque Roadster boasts a mildly detuned version of the strapping AMG 7.3-liter V12 engine, delivering 677 horsepower and 575 pound-feet of torque. Mated to a Cima six-speed sequential gearbox, the engine propels the two-seater from rest to 60 mph in less than 3.4 seconds, with a top speed in excess of 200 mph.

Pagani has strengthened the Zonda's magnesium/titanium chassis, which features a fully adjustable suspension. Other features are carried over from the hardtop model, including Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, a ceramic-coated titanium exhaust system and APP forged aluminum/magnesium wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero performance rubber (size 255/35ZR19 in front and 335/30ZR20 in the rear).

As on the hardtop, the roadster's race-inspired cockpit is fitted with Toora carbon-fiber seats covered in leather, a carbon-fiber steering wheel and four-point belts.

Inside Line says: Once you've seen the Zonda Cinque Roadster, it might be tough to climb back into your old Mustang ragtop. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
