Custom-Made Foose Coupe Delivered to First Customer

IRVINE, California — An ultra-limited-edition Foose Coupe hot rod was delivered to its owner late last week in California. Only 50 will be built in all.

This is only the fourth coupe produced — and the second that has been available to the public for purchase. The first sold for $330,000 to a private collector in April 2007 at the Barrett-Jackson auction. The new distributor for the product, Superformance Distribution, commented that the car has a $259,000 rolling price, and it is possible for interested buyers to keep the price under or right around $300,000 for a fully equipped vehicle.

The owner chose a powerful 6.4-liter Hemi V8 to power this supercar, with output coming in at a whopping 500 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. Exterior details include flaming spears hand-painted by Chip Foose himself and 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero rubber. The inside gets leather seating, carbon-fiber trim and a pistol-grip shifter for the five-speed manual. A fully independent front and rear suspension and 14-inch disc brakes complete the list of performance goodies for this custom Foose Coupe.

Superformance Distribution is handling marketing and sales for the Foose Coupe after the specialty company's heavily publicized falling out with Unique Performance of Texas late last year.

What this means to you: Although it may look similar to the Plymouth Prowler, this Foose Coupe is a much rarer bird with its Hemi power, aggressive styling and more than $300,000 price tag. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent
