Biden Fleet Suffers Third Accident in Six Days

NEW YORK — For the third time in less than a week, vehicles associated with Vice President Biden have been in an accident that has caused injuries — or worse. On Tuesday in the early evening, an unmarked police car, part of a motorcade escorting the vice president to a taping of The Daily Show in Manhattan, collided with a livery cab. Three people were injured.

News reports quoted witnesses as saying the cab appeared to be at fault in the crash, which happened at 5:40 p.m. near 49th Street and 10th Avenue. The unmarked police car and other vehicles were part of an advance group ahead of Biden's motorcade. They were using lights and sirens as they passed through the intersection, the reports said. Two police officers and the driver of the cab were treated at nearby hospitals and released, the New York Times reported.

On Monday in Albuquerque, a car collided with a sheriff's vehicle that was in the Vice President's motorcade, and a sergeant in the vehicle was injured. The circumstances were similar in that the sheriff's vehicle was not believed to have been at fault.

The two injury accidents followed closely after a more serious accident in Maryland, near Washington, D.C., in the predawn hours of last Wednesday, November 11. In that one, a pedestrian was struck and killed by two Secret Service-driven vehicles from the Biden fleet.

Vice President Biden was not directly involved in any of the accidents, and his appearance on The Daily Show on Tuesday took place as scheduled.

Inside Line says: If the common wisdom that bad things happen in threes is to be believed, this is it for Biden-related crashes. All the same, a defensive-driving refresher course might be a good idea for Biden's staff. — Laura Sky Brown, Correspondent

I'm sure glad he wasn't in a McCain supported import brand vehicle.  Instead of injuries, there would be deaths.

Perhaps you are not familiar with the fact you are not supposed to stop a presidental/chain-in-command motorcade as opposed to J-Lo's fat ass motorcade. Nobody is going to try to assassinate J-Lo.

That is the part that concerns me.  The police should not be able to use sirens to get to a TV show interview.  If Biden can, then J-Lo should be able to also.  They both have similar roles.
