2010 Detroit Auto Show Being Promoted Via Facebook, Twitter

    0 Ratings
DETROIT — BMW recently entered the social networking realm with its X1 Facebook page, and the North American International Auto Show (the Detroit auto show, that is) has followed suit and started promoting the 2010 Detroit show with both Twitter and Facebook accounts.

"It's never too early to keep up on one of the most exciting events of the year," said NAIAS Senior Co-Chair Doug Fox."The immediacy and popularity of social media is a natural fit to keep the information flowing in this fast-paced and ever-changing auto industry."

Both are fairly new pages, though the NAIAS is already approaching 100 fans on each Facebook and Twitter — both numbers that can be expected to grow as January approaches. This appears to be the first time an auto show has followed the lead of auto companies in using Internet social networking as a promotional tool.

This is the Detroit auto show's 22nd year under its North American International Auto Show moniker. Public dates are January 16-24, 2010.
