2009 Geneva Auto Show: EDAG Light Car

GENEVA — EDAG, the German engineering house, will unveil a unique concept called Light Car at the upcoming 2009 Geneva Auto Show. The name refers both to the vehicle's lightweight recyclable structure and its innovative LED lighting technology.

The Light Car measures only 157.5 inches long, but boasts an ample 114-inch wheelbase. Perhaps its most unusual feature is the application of four electric motors, one at each wheel, in effect making this an all-wheel-drive vehicle. EDAG says the range with the lithium-ion battery pack is 90-plus miles.

The LED lights are incorporated in glass panes that mark the outlines of headlamps and taillamps. They can be modified to suit the owner's tastes.

Inside Line says: This could be one of the more intriguing tech showcases at Geneva. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
