There was plenty to see at this year’s 2008 Beijing Auto Show. Most of the cars on display won’t ever make it to the U.S., but the sheer enthusiasm shown by the numerous Chinese automakers has boosted this show to top-tier status.
Although the Beijing auto show is focused on its home market, that doesn’t stop foreign automakers from using the show for world premieres. This time around it was the year of the German SUVs as Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche all unveiled brand new models in Beijing.
The 2009 Audi Q5 and 2010 Mercedes-Benz GLK350 are two all-new compact SUVs while the 2009 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S is a new 550-horsepower flagship model. We also saw the world premiere of the Buick Invicta concept, a sleek new sedan that will become reality within the next two years.
