Caparo T1 Race Extreme Hits the Track

LONDON — Caparo Vehicle Technologies has launched — and we do mean launched — a new Race Extreme edition of the already racy Caparo T1.

The T1 Race Extreme is aimed, according to the company, at the "high end" of the track-day market, and the specifications would appear to bear that out.

The new model is fitted with a 620-horsepower V8 and a six-speed sequential gearbox, and it weighs a mere 1,200 pounds. That enables the T1 Race Extreme to literally rocket from rest to 60 mph in less than 2.8 seconds, while the 0-100-mph sprint takes only 5.8 seconds. Top speed is 208 mph, and the car corners at a phenomenal 3.5 g.

Caparo has equipped the T1 Race Extreme with adjustable suspension and aerodynamics. Even the brakes are motorsports grade, with billet-machined aluminum calipers, titanium pistons and ceramic discs and pads.

Inside Line says: The T1 continues to creep closer to F1-like performance with each iteration. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
