    • The XTS will replace the aging DTS sedan.

    DETROIT — General Motors plans to introduce the production version of the new 2013 Cadillac XTS in November at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.

    GM said it planned to show the production XTS sedan with its new CUE infotainment system. CUE bundles a suite of infotainment, navigation and communication tools with an intuitive user interface, and debuts next year on Cadillac's new ATS and XTS sedans and the SRX crossover.

    The XTS was previewed at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show, when GM unveiled the all-wheel-drive XTS Platinum Concept.

    The XTS Platinum Concept had a 3.6-liter V6 direct-injection gasoline engine and plug-in hybrid propulsion system delivering an estimated 350 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

    GM in August confirmed that the XTS would go into production in Oshawa, Ontario, in spring 2012, replacing the DTS as Cadillac's largest offering.

    Inside Line says: GM hopes the XTS will help keep some of Cadillac's aging clientele in the fold.

    This is a well proportional, sport sedan, I like it alot! Very masculine, strong, edgy; inline with all the other offerings from Caddy. Good job!

    Wow, look at the rear overhang on this thing! At least it's going to have class leading trunk space.

    It kinda looks like it was designed backwards with its snub nose and super long rear end.

    "If the American car companies are making a better car why not have a warranty at least the length of Hyundai/Kia"

    Because Cadillac has a 4/50,000 mile limited warranty like the rest of the luxury marques, but they also have a 5/100,000 powertrain that Lexus, BMW and Mercedes don't have. Why don't you ask them the same question?

    @Merc -
    Not many of them buy Lincoln - Actually the 2010 MKS numbers are about the same as the outgoing DTS. YTD data this year suggests the DTS is ahead as well for this year

    I agree lots of former people that would get a Caddy get a Lexus instead now, though not always the ES. The GS and LS are more caddy like IMO.

    Where does Caddy say their benchmark is the 7 series? No doubt the 3 series is the right benchmark for a sport entry level luxury sedan. I don't know if the 7 series is the best luxury benchmark. That is more controversial.

    This isn't a 7-Series fighter, that's what isn't getting through here.  This is tarted up Buick which will only embarrass Cadillac and set them back years.  The CTS and ATS deserve a better flagship.  This car is a joke.  10K DTS sales aren't even worth chasing anymore.  The DeVille/DTS was the best selling luxury car in the U.S. at one time, but those buyers have moved on either passed away or they're buying ES350s and Lincolns now.

    GM/Caddy needs to build/sell this.  Sure I am nostalgic, but I think this car still gives you luxery and sport to a degree.  This car would fill the gap that the DTS held and should bring in new customers.  I don't think this car is "pointless" or "won't sell" I think it will do well actually, plus a car company like Cadillac should still dabble in the full size/luxury sedan realm..this way you stay well rounded.  I hate to say it but BMW, Mercedes and Audi all have car offerings in each of the size categories and tend to be "well-rounded". (trust me I am not a fanboy of these brands but I do respect their products.  GM/Caddy needs to be similar in order to be a "World" or "Global" player.
