LOS ANGELES — Cadillac continues to focus on elegant, hand-crafted cabins with its new Platinum Series collection, which includes limited editions of the STS, XLR and DTS.

General Motors' luxury brand introduced the Platinum concept in 2004 on a high-end version of the Escalade ESV. The latest Platinum Series cars get more chrome, real wood and hand-sewn upholstery.

The XLR Platinum features 18-inch tires on 15-spoke alloy wheels, olive ash burl-wood trim and Alcantara suede headliner and pillars. The car is painted liquid amethyst, with a cashmere interior. It goes on sale in early 2007.

The STS Platinum has 18-inch chrome-finish wheels, Tuscany leather upholstery, chrome interior accents, a heated leather steering wheel, olive ash burl-wood inserts and premium floor mats. It is painted Glacier Gold; interior schemes include ebony or cocoa over cashmere. The car goes on sale in early 2007.

The DTS Platinum adds bright chrome exterior accents, 18-inch wheels, olive ash burl-wood interior trim, Tuscany leather upholstery and a suede headliner. The car is painted ebony, with a light linen over cocoa interior. It goes on sale in August 2007.

What this means to you: Looks like Cadillac got a deal on a boatload of olive ash burl wood.
