Cadillac DTS Icon
What's Special About It?
Designed as the ultimate executive sedan, the DTS Icon features a combination of new world technology and old world luxury. The individually-adjustable rear seats are covered in cashmere leather and feature heating, cooling and massage capabilities as well as their own dual-source LCD monitors. There's also climate controlled cupholders, fold out work trays, 110-volt outlets for plugging in laptops and a Bose audio system with wireless headphones. Sterling silver accents highlight the entire interior while Alacantara suede covers the roof and rear parcel shelf. Up front, the driver is treated to a heated steering wheel, cashmere leather-covered instrument panel with burled eucalyptus trim and climate controlled seats and cupholders. No executive conveyance would be complete without a distinctive exterior so Cadillac designers added a sterling silver grille, revised front and rear fascias, an integrated rear spoiler and 19-inch sterling silver-plated wheels.
Why Should You Care?
Not much reason to in this case. Nothing on the Icon represents any real innovative step for the DTS. Practically every car at the SEMA show had an LCD monitor or two and you can already get climate controlled seats and cupholders in some of GM's current products. Add in the fact that any average Joe can plop down $59.95 at the local Alamo and get a DTS for the weekend and its attractiveness as an "exclusive" executive car is obviously less than overwhelming.
