The stretched and modified De Ville has an elevated seat, widened doors, retractable steps and an open top. It was created for Pope John Paul II to use when he addressed followers in Mexico City and gave a celebrated "Address to All Generations" in a stadium filled with more than 100,000 people. Appropriately, it was designed at General Motors de Mexico with the help of Eureka Coach and Roush Technologies. It was blessed by the pope.
The car was previously owned by the General Motors Heritage Center until being acquired by the Petersen museum in January.
