WASHINGTON — General Motors is recalling 674 2012 Cadillac CTS sedans because a pushrod could separate from the brake pedal, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

"These vehicles may have a condition in which the power vacuum brake boost pushrod retention nut may not be torqued to the proper specification," said NHTSA in its recalls summary of the problem. "If the nut is not torqued to the proper specification, the nut could loosen and allow the pushrod to separate from the brake pedal. This could result in a loss of ability to brake and a vehicle crash without prior warning."

GM also issued a stop-sale order on the 2012 Cadillac CTS, effective on October 29, according to federal documentation.

"No complaints, crashes or injuries are associated with this recall, which was prompted by factory inspection," said Alan Adler, a GM spokesman, in an e-mailed message to Inside Line. "The vast majority of vehicles were either in dealerships or on their way to them."

Cadillac dealers will inspect the power vacuum brake boost pushrod retention nut, and if necessary, torque the nut to the proper specification. The recall began on November 1. Owners can contact Cadillac at 1-800-458-8006.

Inside Line says: If you own the 2012 Cadillac CTS, be aware that a recall is in progress.

A "Stop-Sale Order" should just be ordered across the board until they come up with a better quality CTS model...lol

At least GM took responsability to their mishap and is attempted to correct a problem before peopled die. Eg. Toyota/ Lexus.
